James Croshaw Obituary

James "Jim" Croshaw
July 23, 1933 - March 12, 2018
Los Altos
James was born in Angels Camp, Ca. After high school he pursued dreams of becoming an artist and moved west to the big city of San Francisco. In the early 1950s he co-founded the acclaimed San Francisco Contemporary Dancers. He toured the country dancing in the productions and designing the costumes. Upon retiring from the group he decided to go to beauty school and soon after met his lifelong partner Marty Olea. Marty and Jim left the big city for their "life number two" in Los Altos, Ca. They opened a salon called Haircuts Etc that was a huge success. The couple retired in 2011. James loved his Papillon puppies, especially his precious Priscilla. He took pride in his nieces, god children and nephews. He enjoyed traveling and going to celebrations with Marty. Above all he loved his beautiful garden. His unending creativity will forever inspire us. As James used to say "always look for magic." We will miss our dear Partner, Uncle, Nino, and Friend. A Remembrance Gathering will be in Los Altos on April 7. For details email [email protected]

March 27, 2019

I was a young dancer with San Fransisco Contemporary Dancers in 1965-1967. Jim was so very influencial and inspiring to me. He was a beautiful, powerful dancer/ teacher and an extraordinary designer. I have been creating childrens theater for many years and I still draw from Jim's magic. I have so many wonderful memories of Jim and the fun we had. He touched my life so profoundly. My deep condolences to his loved ones. My name then was Patricia Nugent Burns. I'd love to share my memories and appreciation with others.
