James Scholz Obituary

James Scholz
Nov. 1, 1950 - Nov. 1, 2013
Resident of Redlands, CA
JAMES PAUL SCHOLZ Age 63 passed away on November 1st, 2013, with the people he loved most at his side. Born in Redwood City, California on November 1st, 1950, Jim grew up in Los Altos and graduated from Awalt High School in 1968, received his BA from UCR in 1975, and earned his PhD from UCR in 1982. For the last 20 years of his life, he lived in Redlands, CA with his two sons. Jim's easy charm and unfailing compassion made him a talented psychologist and a warm and adherent friend. A consummate scholar, Jim was never far from a book and took great pleasure in sharing his knowledge and the wry anecdotes that accompanied it with those close to him. He was a man of many causes and stubborn principles who knew what he believed and gave himself over to the things he loved without reservation; from the classic music and movies he collected to his favorite sports teams and, most importantly, his loved ones. Jim gave every measure of devotion to his family and proudly lived to see his sons grow into exceptional young men before he died. He has left their lives and the lives of everyone he cared for brighter in his wake. Jim's memory lives on in his sons, Dylan and Townsend (and his wife Jennifer), his brother, Brian (and his wife Joan), his nieces, Heather and Amanda, and his former wife and good friend, Diane. We will hold a celebration of his life on Saturday, December 14th and the time and place are TBD. For updates, please contact the family at [email protected].

Sweet, gentle soul. Your many hats, 'hullabaloo' shirts, 49'ers, movies and reel to reel music. "Sliding down the slippery slide..". "I know you're out there somewhere..". Never forgotten.

I had the pleasure of working with Jim at the County of Riverside. Kind, sympathetic, hip, intelligent. Always a kind word and smiling face. He will be missed. I considered him to be a good friend. My heartfelt condolences to his family.

I had the pleasure of working in the same office as Doctor Jim for several years. His smile and laugh were so genuine and heart-felt, it was impossible to not smile or laugh with him. We talked many times about movies and books, and he was a big help to me when I had problems with my son. When he left, the office was never the same to me.

I'll never forget the night we all sat glued to the TV way back in the 60's..A breathtaking band called The Beatles were appearing on the Ed Sullvan Show and the Mullanes and the Scholz boys were transfixed.
Long summer days swimming in your pool with the Giants game ALWAYS playing. Good times for may years. Please say hello to my dad,Bill Mullane, and Aunt Laura and Uncle Wally. You are in great company Jimmy.
...Rest in Peace...
