James Terra Obituary

James Leonard Terra On Monday, February 23, 2004, aged 67 years, 11 months, 13 days. Beloved son of the late William Joseph and Marguerite (Young) Terra, dear brother of Phyllis, keeper of cats (especially Tucker, Maine Coon). Survived by many friends and acquaintances. Jim was born March 10, 1936 at the old O'Connor Sanitarium, attended St. Patrick's Grammar School and Bellarmine, and graduated from San Jose High School. After service in Korea, he attended San Jose State College, leaving before graduation to obtain a 1st Class FCC license. He worked briefly at radio station KSJO and then drove a Santa Clara County Bookmobile for several years, an appropriate job for an avid reader and life long library haunter. Having kept up his FCC license, he then worked for San Jose Dispatch, which joined Santa Clara County Dispatch some years later. He retired in 1986 with 20 years experience and spent the rest of his life in an attempt to satisfy an insatiable curiosity about all aspects of life and the world. The Neptune Society will take him out to sea once more. Anyone wishing further information may call the NEPTUNE SOCIETY at 408 287-8700.

Sorry to learn of Jim's death. I served with Jim in Korea. We were assigned to Foxtrot Company, 34th Regt. 24th Infantry Division. Jim took over my job as Company Clerk whe I rotated back to the United States in October 1956. He worked hard as my assistant for 3 months prior to taking over for me. Our CO was Capt Heard.
