Joaquin, I loved you and relied on you and cherished your friendship and assistance. Whenever I needed help, you were there, and you not only did the things I needed to have done, but then went looking for more things that were unfinished. You loved my sister and her family--took them as your own and brought them great happiness and joy, and helped them through all the rough spots. I am so incredibly shocked at your untimely passing and deeply saddened by your death. I am in awe of the way that you touched so many lives, brining your unconditional love and respect to everyone you met. I was sometimes embarassed at your goofiness, and yet would trade all of that (and was jealous of Nancy for having you in her life) to have someone just like that to share my life. I know that you are in a better place, with your blood sugars under control, your knees without pain and no diabetic wounds anywhere--surronded by all the tools you could ever want and all the projects you could ever dream of working on (heaven). Peace be with you.

To Nancy (my baby sister) and family, My deepest sympathy. Remember to keep eating. I love you and I wish I could do something to take away the pain you feel right now. All I can offer is my love and support.

To Joaquin's family,

Thank you for sharing him with my family, for shaping him into the wonderful man he became. He is a real jewel, and I feel so special at having the opportunity to know him. I offer you my deepest sympathy for your loss. He was too young to have passed this way, I understand intellectually that there was a bigger plan for him, but it doesn't help the feelings of loss and sorrow.

To Joaquin's friend John,

How tragic to have watched the accident and yet how blessed you were to have seen him when he was so happy and thrilled at riding the new motorcycle, living out one of his long-held dreams. You knew him for most of his life, and that is such a marvelous thing--to have been close to such a giving and loving friend. I am sorry for your loss and for having to witness the accident, and I am jealous of you having seen the joy in his face just prior, when he was riding the Harley, living out his dream.

I believe in a life more beautiful than any one day on earth, I belive that the soul releases itself from the body and sores beyond this world into the arms of a devine God. I believe that one day his face will shine amongst you again, his smile will warm your hearts, and his laughter will fill your soul. You see there is a God, and one day you will be together again, I promise you, this my friend is not the end.

Jauquin and Sonna,

I know that there is nothing that I can say, but I am so grieved for you. I think about this tragedy all day long and my heart feels so heavy. I keep praying and asking God to give me a way to make you feel better, or even a way to show you how sorry I am, I hope that you both know. I will never say I understand, because I do not, all I can do is weep with you. I know you doubt God, but I promise you he is real and one day you and your father will see each other again, beleive in that, and hold onto it, I hope that God can bring some comfort to you... I know your father is looking down and he is so proud of you, he lives on and he is in an amazing place right now

I love you guys and Im so very sorry

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

To my dearest Uncle Joaquin,

I remember the day you taught me how to "swim" by throwing me in the middle of the pool and encouraging me to kick my legs and reach for the edge. After you had to reach way in to pull me out, you said "see kid, your alright, now you know how to swim". For whatever reason i made it a point to never be around a body of water when you were close. haha

I remember you picking me up from my parents house in San jose and we would just drive and we would show up at relatives houses to just say hi and visit.I loved that.Thank you.

I remember that you always had a smile for me and a laugh that I will never forget. Thank you for always honoring my mother(Martha) by telling me about her, even though i never had the oppotunity to meet her. I'm sure she has her arms around you right now, welcoming you with a big smile just like yours!!

Uncle, you left so soon, but I promise to tell your grandchild what a loving, kind, giving, silly person you have always been and forever will be remembered. So, see kid, your alright!!

until we meet again...

i love you now and always,

Your niece Bernadette

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
