John Emilio Intagliata, 75, passed away peacefully with his family at his side Saturday evening at Kaiser Santa Clara Hospital from complications of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
John, the son of Joseph and Rosaria Intagliata, was born in San Francisco at Mary's Help Hospital. He is the beloved brother of Josephine Inglima, Donna Sargent and the late Dr. Eleanor Intagliata. He graduated from Sacred Heart Cathedral College Preparatory High School in San Francisco. After high school graduation, John became a sheet metal contractor and later enjoyed a long career with the San Jose Unified School District. He retired from the San Jose Unified School District over 15 years ago. In his younger days John was a nationally ranked roller skating champion and later became an avid water skier and speed boat enthusiast. Always good for a funny joke that was sure to amuse, John would frequently be found on the dance floor at the Blue Pheasant.
John is survived by his son Jay Intagliata, daughter-in-law Lauren Intagliata and grandson Jackson Intagliata of San Jose. He is the beloved uncle of Roseann Burhenne, her husband Mark Burhenne and grand nieces Catharine, Elisabeth and Marie Burhenne of Campbell. John is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews including Joe, John and Jerry Inglima of GA, Vivian Senft of CT, Dr. Maria Castellano of GA and Frank Castellano of NY and Virgina Sargent of San Rafael and Al Sargent of San Francisco.
Friends and family are invited to attend John's funeral service this Wednesday, April 4 at 11 am at St. Christopher's Catholic Church, 1576 Curtner Ave, San Jose, CA. Reception to follow after the service.
