We went skiing together in the early 70's. I was teaching him how to ski. When we got off of the ski lift at Heavenly Valley, Uncle John lost control and fell through a blue plastic boundary fence. We had to side step back up the face of Heavenly because it was a double diamond run! So we spent the day together having a blast, but I took a tumble when I hit a dirt patch. No big deal. We decided we were going to take the lift down the mountain as the slopes were closing and we wanted take in the amazing view. As soon as I got into the chair I started feeling pain while breathing, and Uncle John experienced lots of pain in his hand. When we got to the end of the mountain we both were doing so bad we had to sit in an ambulance so we could have triage. We ended up having to go to the hospital. Uncle John, an engineer, broke 5 bones in his hand, and I tore muscles in my chest. What an amazing day though, we both did great until we had to stop moving! He is now probably skiing all over Heaven right now! Let me just say that I never taught anyone else to ski since!
