John Keay Obituary

John C. Keay
March 31, 1945-July 2, 2012
Resident of San Jose
John C. Keay age 67 passed away peacefully on Monday, July 2nd at his home in San Jose, California with his family around him. John was born in Moline, Illinois on March 31, 1945 and moved to Southern California at the age of 11. He moved to San Jose when the company he was working for relocated to the Bay Area. John practiced law in Santa Clara County for 23 years. He loved helping people and volunteered his time with several groups. John belonged to a group call Volunteers in Parole where he received several awards for his work with parolees. John developed a program at Elmwood Jail called "Life" Looking Inside for Everything. He volunteered his time at the jail for many years working with inmates. John also volunteered as a coach for his daughter Jennifer's soccer team for many years. After being diagnosed with Alzheimer's John spent most of his time at home with his family where he continued to give all of us his words of wisdom. He was amazingly unselfish, and an unconditionally loving person. John is survived by his wife Connie Keay of San Jose, daughters and son-in-laws, Jennifer and Mike Sarmento of San Jose, Shirley and Mark Zamparelli of Roseville, grandchildren, Alex Keay of Roseville, Kyle Taylor and Allison Taylor of San Jose, and his sister Bonnie Keay. Our lives will never be the same without him. We will miss John terribly and will carry his love with us always. A Memorial Service celebrating John's life will be held on Saturday, July 21 at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of the Hills at 615 N. Santa Cruz Ave. in Los Gatos, CA. Our family is most appreciative of the loving care he received from the nurses, aides and Chaplin at Hospice of the Valley.

Connie, Jennifer and family ... our thoughts and prayers have been with you through John's illness ... the years haven't diminished the priceless memories we have of our times together and the video of John singing Zippedy-Do-Dah brought them all flooding back. Such a good thing!! We can't attend John's Memorial, but we truly will be there in spirit. With love and friendship always, Mike, Jan, Katy (+5) and A.J. (+3-1/2)

I was deeply saddened to hear about John's passing. John was a hero to me...he represented me pro bono during a very difficult family court trial. I will always remember him as someone who made a difference in my life...
