John David Lococo
February 22, 1931- August 16th, 2012
Resident of Cupertino
John D. Lococo died peacefully at Mistywood Independent Senior Living Community in Roseville, CA on Thursday, August 16, 2012. He was surrounded by his family, and had many visitors in his final days. He was born February 22nd 1931 in Lincoln, NE to his loving parents, James and Benedetta Lo Coco; the fifth of seven sons.
John graduated from Cathedral High School in 1950 and joined the Navy Reserves soon after. He spent his two years in the military stateside. After his discharge from the Navy John held many jobs. Retiring at age 62 from PW Supermarket in Cupertino, where he worked for 15 years.
John met the love of his life, Mary Ann Riso, daughter of Genaro and Rosa Riso in 1954 in Monterey, CA. He was smitten and they were married soon after in November 1954 at Saint Carlos Cathedral in Monterey, CA. They bought their first home in August of 1962 in Cupertino on Hollanderry Place where they raised their four children and lived for 48 years.
John and Mary were devoted members of their church, St Josephs of Cupertino. John was involved in the Knights of Columbus and was an usher every Sunday at Mass. He was an avid fan of the San Francisco Giants and the 49ers. A proud F.B.I. (Full Blooded Italian), John was loved and revered by everyone who knew him. His presence, influence and infectious smile and laugh will be deeply missed by his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary, in October 2010. He was the doting father of four children, Benedetta M. Merrill (Jeff) of Rocklin, CA, Joan M. Lococo and John D. Lococo, Jr. of Roseville, and Cathy A. Arias (Gerardo) of San Jose. Devoted grandfather of Melissa Merrill, Kimberly York (Alex), Daniel Merrill, David and Brian Lococo, Rosamaria, Victoria, and Gerardo Jr. Arias.
Friends are invited to attend a Vigil Service on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. with Visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. at LIMA CAMPAGNA SUNNYVALE MORTUARY, 1315 Hollenbeck Ave., Sunnyvale. Funeral Mass Friday, August 24 at 11:00 a.m. at ST. JOSEPH OF CUPERTINO CHURCH, 10110 N. De Anza Blvd., Cupertino. Interment to follow at GATE OF HEAVEN CATHOLIC CEMETERY, Los Altos.

My prayers go out to the Lococo family for your loss. He is now reunited with Mary in heaven. He is also reunited with most of his breakfast club members. I wikk miss his friendly smile.
