John Sager Obituary

John Sager
Sept. 16, 1951 - Aug. 31, 2017
Resident of San Jose
Beloved Father, Grandfather, Friend, Coach and retired Insurance Professional, John Sager, passed away at the end of August and will be greatly missed by those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him. John, known for his quick wit and dedication to his family, always went the extra mile when it came to those close to him.
Born in Reno, Nevada, John moved to San Jose while in High School and called the Bay Area home ever since. John had a passion for the simple things in life … coaching his children's youth sports teams, gardening, golfing, watching Bay Area sport, collecting Hawaiian shirts and most recently, fixing up his new Jeep. He was a dedicated San Jose State University alumni, holding football season tickets for a number of years, regardless of their wins and losses (mostly losses). He spent over 30 years at Koning & Associates, where he adjusted claims for policy holders in need … a testament to his dedication and second to none work ethic. John also had a unique sense of humor, one that casual onlookers probably couldn't appreciate, but those close to John valued his lighthearted nature and ability to make people smile.
John is survived by sons, Jason (Kristen) and Grant (Cecilia); grandsons, Connor and Trent; and granddaughters, Natalie and Solana. John now rejoins two of his biggest loves in life, wife Chris and daughter Leigh, who preceded him in death.
We love you so much, Dad … I hope you are finally at peace. We will always miss you.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the youth sports organization of your choice.

John was a wonderful man with a great sense of humor. I worked with him for over eight years and he was always the consummate professional and a great family man.

John would come into the office the same time I did. We always talked about family or sports. We lied a lot about our golf game scores.
Sure had a great work ethic.
Will truly miss him.
Deepest condolences to John's family.

Sending prayers to the family! John, so many memories of being at Grant and Ryan's soccer and baseball games with you, Chris and Leigh...then all the dinners out afterwards. We all had so much fun. Grant , sending prayers that God gives you and all the family His peace and comfort. I am so very sorry.

We only knew John for about four years being newer neighbors from down the street. He was a very genuine and welcoming person. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I'm so very sorry to hear of John's passing. He was a nice man, and a true Spartan. May you rest in peach, John.

He was a long lost relative. My mom grew up playing with him. Said he had called her a while back before she moved two or three years ago. Bummer I would have liked to learn more about him.

John was a great friend, both at work and after I retired when he would come to Arizona to visit my husband and me. We always enjoyed our times spent together, and the last time I spoke with him on the telephone, he promised he would soon come to see us again.

John always lived for his family, and he was proud of every one of them.

Rest in peace, John, and we will always miss you.

John was a co-worker of mine for over 13 years and a wonderful friend as well. His passing was a shock to many of us and he will be sorely missed
