Joseph Burciaga

Resident of Redwood City

Sept. 8, 1945-June 16, 2011

Joe passed away on June 16, 2011 at the age of 65. He is survived by his brother Armando Burciaga and sister Beatriz Cerrillo (Redwood City), Rosa Burciaga (Fremont), Gloria Perez (Atascadero), and eight nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his mother, Irene Burciaga (2003). Born in Mexico, Joe was a permanent resident of Redwood City since 1955. He attended Sequoia High School from 1960-1964.

He enjoyed sports especially water polo, soccer, and bowling. He was a self-taught guitar player and had an extensive collection of Rock and Roll albums from the 50's and 60's. His most prized possession was a 1965 cherry-red GTO. Joe served in the US Army from 1967-1969. He was stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam War. A memorial brick will be donated in his memory to the Sequoia Veterans Memorial on the Sequoia High School campus. Joe's wishes were to be cremated and have no formal services. Donations can be made to a Veterans organization of your choice in Joe's honor.
