Joseph Scamardo Obituary

SCAMARDO, Joseph J. -- Passed away peacefully on July 23, 2003 in San Jose, CA. Joseph was born April 1, 1915 in Madison, WI to Charles and Anna Scamardo. As a young child, he moved with his parents and made his home in San Jose. He was a veteran of World War II and for many years was in the Civil Service at Moffet Field, driving trucks. For over 50 years, Joseph was a proud member of Musician's Union Local 153 and leader of the "Joe Scamardo Orchestra". He was an avid Giants and 49er fan, an ardent gardener and a great lover of music, particularly jazz. His adored wife of 55 years, Deolinda R. "Lindy" Scamardo and his devoted son James J. Scamardo and numerous nieces and nephews survive him. His sister and brother Norma Mangano and Benny Scamardo preceded him in death. Visitation will be held Monday, July 28, 2003 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at DARLING-FISCHER GARDEN CHAPEL, 471 E. Santa Clara St., San Jose, CA (408) 998-2226. A vigil will be recited at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 580 E. Jackson St., San Jose, CA. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, San Jose, CA.
