Kenneth Bretischopf Obituary

Kenneth J. Breitschopf
Resident of Los Altos
Ken passed away in Mountain View, Feb. 20, 2012, at age 93. Born in St. Paul, MN on Dec. 4, 1918 to John (Jack) C. Breitschopf and Gertrude Koempel Breitschopf. One of three siblings he was preceded in death by his sister Audrey A. Dubois and brother John (Bud) C. Breitschopf. Ken graduated from Military School and joined the Air Force in 1942. He was stationed in India and flew many dangerous transport missions. At the time of discharge he held rank as Major. Ken married Mary Agnes Boyle, who preceded him in death in 1963. They had one daughter, Mary Ann.
Upon leaving the Air Force he was employed by United Airlines in 1945 and flew for them for the next 37 years, rising to the rank of Captain. He retired in 1978.
Ken married again to Marion J. Papendorf, a stewardess for United. They enjoyed a life together of extensive travel visiting exotic locations such as Turkey, Russia, Chili as well as many European vacations and world cruises. A longtime member of the Palo Alto Elks #1471. In his later years Ken enjoyed the California sun and a glass of good wine.
Ken is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marion J. Breitschopf, daughter Mary Ann Saint Clair, granddaughter Stella Rose Saint Clair, his nieces Gretchen Herman, Carla Gada, and Barbara Manolides; nephews Mark and Dale Dubois. Ken will be greatly missed by all.
Visitations will begin on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 6 p.m., Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. at Cusimano Family Colonial Mortuary, 96 W. El Camino, Mtn. View. A Funeral Mass will be held on Mon. Feb 27 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Church, Los Altos. Interment at Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno.

Mary Ann and Family - I just had the pleasure of meeting your father and we had a wonderful talk about his travels and his time in the Service as well as United. He was a wonderful man and even though we just had met he will be missed. I would love to share some of the things we talked about when you are ready.

Mary Ann, I am so sorry for your loss, These are very difficult times but remember all the beautiful, fun times you had together. So many lifetime memories that you will have forever.
