Kevin Lawrence Likens

Kevin Lawrence Likens Kevin, loving husband, father, brother, son and friend, passed away at home in San Jose on August 2, 2009, following a courageous battle with cancer. Kevin was born November 6, 1954, in Palo Alto, to Lawrence and Janet (Smith) Likens. He spent his childhood years in Los Altos, where he attended St. William School, Los Altos High and Foothill College. He studied American Literature at UC Santa Cruz. In his 25 years as owner of Likens Landscape, Kevin created many beautiful landscapes throughout the Peninsula and South Bay. He was a man of honor, intelligence and humor. He loved reading, writing and exploring nature, and it brought him great joy to share these loves with his family and friends. He was an avid follower of Bay Area sports teams and he loved his dogs. Kevin lived life to the fullest, in spite of the many challenges he faced. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Preceded in death by his parents, he leaves behind his wife, Jane; beloved children, Liam and Caitlin; sisters, Kathleen and Diane; brothers, Douglas, and his wife, Mary Kate, and Michael, and his wife, Jeanine; mother-in-law, Alice Simpson; brother-in-law, James Simpson; and nieces and nephews, Keegan, Nikki, Christian, Annalisa, Gabriel, Hannah and Jack. A private family memorial has been held. Arrangements by California Cremation Society. The family wishes to thank the many friends and caregivers who offered love, prayers and support during this difficult time.
