Layne Scott Nishimura
Sept. 18, 1965 - June 18, 2013
Resident of San Jose
Layne Scott Nishimura was born in San Jose, California, loving son of Aileen and Andrew Nishimura.
A native Californian, Layne resided in Hawaii for several years after completing his degree at San Jose State University. During college he served as President of the SJSU Hawaiian Club and was a member of the outrigger canoe paddling team.
Layne enjoyed everything about Hawaii including the lifestyle, food, climate and people. He especially liked spending time with his relatives in Hawaii.

Layne is survived by his parents, Aileen and Andrew Nishimura; brother and sister-in-law, Landon and Jean Nishimura; niece and nephews, Shea, JT and Jake Nishimura.
A private memorial service was held at Wesley United Methodist Church.

Happy birthday Layne. It is hard to believe that it has been three years since you left us. It seems like only yesterday that you were sending me funny "cute animal" utube videos. They always made me laugh and brought a smile to my day.

We love you and miss you very much.

We light another candle on this 3rd anniversary of your leaving us. "Our hearts still ache with sadness and many silent tears still flow. What it meant to lose you, no one will ever know. We hold you close within our hearts and there you will remain, to walk with us throught our lives."

Just found out. So sad and so very sorry I couldn't be there for Layne. I knew Layne from childhood and disconnected some 20 odd years ago. When we were younger, we were actually good friends. My deep condolences to the family. I always thought he was one of the good guys and will always remember him that way. Peace brah

My condolences to the Nishimura family on the passing of Layne. I did not find out until today that he had passed. I remember Layne fondly, as we were roommates in Aiea for several years. Layne was always kind and laid back, and he was a good guy to be around.

There was even a time when we adopted a mangy homeless dog that we named "Lady" who wandered into our parking lot. When I was gone at work or on trips, Layne took great care of Lady, that's how kind and loving he was. When Layne moved back to San Jose, both Lady and I missed him a lot but he would make it a point to visit whenever he came back to Oahu on vacation.

These past few years, I was wondering why I hadn't heard from Layne and why he hadn't returned my emails. Now sadly, I know why. But Layne, you will always be remembered in the most positive light and I'm sure you are in a better place now.

Peace be with you and your family.

Pals forever,
Arnold

Today Layne would be celebrating his 50th birthday. The memories of his last birthday on Sept. 18, 2012 is still a vivid memory with all of the family gathered to help observe his special day at Kubota's in San Jose, CA. It was a happy occasion, not knowing this would be the last time we would all be together. We miss you. Rest In Peace.

Dear Nishimura Family,
I am very saddened by the passing of Layne. I can remember him hanging around the tennis courts at Mt. Pleasant when he was just a kid. And I also remember what a gentleman he became when he and I met for lunch looking for potential job opportunities here at Lockheed. He will obviously be missed by your wonderful family. I hope that God comforts you during this difficult time.

Words seem inadequate to express the sorrow felt by the loss of Layne. I personally will miss Layne's sense of humor and his text messages. My thoughts are with Layne and his family.
