Leila Glass Obituary

Leila (Lee) Vivian Glass
6/6/1919 - 3/31/2012
Resident of San Jose
Leila (Lee) Glebe Johnson was born on June 6, 1919 in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota to the parents of Ernest Glebe and Ellen Lidstrom Glebe. After graduating Detroit Lakes H.S. in 1937, she went to work for Minnesota Bureau of Beverage control. After about a year, she was promoted to a job in St. Paul, Mn. Where she met, and eventually married, Robert Johnson, in 1945.
After the war, they moved to Daly City, Ca. where they lived for 21 years and raised their two sons. Lee worked as an accountant while excelling at playing bridge, bowling (once carrying 172 average), gardening, sewing, and cooking. They relocated to San Jose in May 1967. Unfortunately, Robert died suddenly in November of that year.
In 1971 she remarried Lt. Col. Karl Glass, an old friend from her days in Daly City. She became active in the Sheppard of the Valley Episcopal Church, even singing in the choir, while she worked a full time schedule at various accounting jobs. They spent a lot of time traveling to many world destinations as well as to most of the 50 states. Their marriage lasted 26 years, until Karl passed way in 1997.
Lee died peacefully, in her sleep on March 31, 2012. She is survived by her sister Alice, her sons Ron and Mark Johnson, her daughters-in-law Kathy and Tona Rose, her grandson Chris, and many nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all of those whoever called her mom or friend.
A memorial service will be held on Monday April 23, 2012 at 1:30 P.M. at Eskaton Village in Carmichael, Ca.

MJ,
I still think about watching Happy Days in your bedroom before leaving for bowling with your Mom, and those dinners she used to leave for me in the oven when i got home late from the gas station. I will always think of her with a smile. Hope all is well.
