Lewis Stanton Obituary
Resident of Foster City
Lewis Newton Stanton Jr., 75, died August 10th, 2014. Lewis was the son of Ella Mae Calhoun Stanton and the late Lewis Newton Stanton, Sr., loving husband of Nancy Miles Stanton, passed away at his home in Foster City, CA after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Nancy, two sons Sanders and Robert, stepson James Varner and two granddaughters, Savannah and Eliza Stanton.
Lewis was born in Columbus, GA, graduated from Columbus High School and went on to further his education at Auburn University on a football scholarship and was proud to be a part of the National Football Championship Team of 1957. He served in the US Army 503rd Combat Team, 82nd Airborne, upon graduating collage he was recruited into the flooring industry by Burlington Industries and went on to start Abbey Carpet & Floor of San Mateo & Menlo Park, was an avid golfer, boater, story teller and bigger than life person for many years. Lewis was also a long standing member of Rotary International of San Mateo. Lewis will be missed by family, friends and business associates.
A Celebration of Life reception will be held at the Peninsula Golf and Country Club. 701 Madera Drive, San Mateo, CA on September 3rd, 2014 from 1pm until 4pm. For details go to www.ssofunerals.com
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to Mission Hospice of San Mateo, 1670 South Amphlett Blvd., Ste. 300, San Mateo, CA 94402.

Dear Nancy, I am so very sorry for your loss. Even though I did not spend a lot of time with you and Lewis, from the times that I did, I will always remember that big smile and gorgeous silver hair. Now Charlotte has company up in heaven. my sincere sympathy to you and your family.

Dear Nancy and family,
Lewis was a very important person in my life and I will miss seeing him at our class reunions. I am so glad I got to visit with him and with you at the last one. He was a great, good person and a charming man.
