Linda Hinze Obituary

Linda Hinze Passed away on June 11, 2009. She was 47. She had just become a homeowner so her last few days were busy, spent turning her first house into a home. She could be seen fixing plumbing, making window screens, building a redwood gate with a table saw and painting. Those last few days were filled with hope, having finally reached her American dream of becoming a homeowner after years of trials and tribulations. On June 27th she would have received her third degree, an AS in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Computer Information Systems and Business from DeAnza College. Linda was given the gift of life in 1995, receiving a kidney transplant from an anonymous boy. With renewed energy she returned to school in 1998 obtaining a degree in Web Design from Foothill College and a BS degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management Information Systems from San Jose State University. Linda was a highly educated, curious person, always asking questions and looking for solutions to problems. She inherited the art of collecting antiques from Irving Cabral, a Santa Clara historian. She loved to visit relatives and took several roadtrips across America, but she dreamed of traveling the world. She was a great listener and often helped the homeless. She loved to lend a helping hand and gave to those who were less fortunate than her, even if all she had to give was her smile. She was active in her community, volunteering for Transplant Recipients International Organization (TRIO), Homestead High, Rebuilding Together, People to People, and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Linda grew up in Hayward, attending Fairview Elementary (Class of 73), Bret Harte Middle School (Class of 74), John M. Horner Junior High (Class of 75), Peterson High School (Class of 79), Hayward High School (Class of 79) and graduating from Aptos High School in 1979. She called the Bay Area home for the past 30 years. Linda was an independent creative person who held a variety of jobs during her life including: dishwasher, cook, housecleaner, nurse aid, bead stringer, disk drive assembler, stock clerk, wafer fab operator, web designer, and flower arranger. She was truly a Jill of all trades. Her most important job was being a wonderful mother. Linda will be forever remembered and loved by her daughter, Rose Cabral, her cats Pearl and Little Kitty, her mother Mary, her father, Herb Hinze, her sisters, Nancy, Alice and Susan, and many childhood and high school friends. A memorial service will be held at 10AM on Saturday, September 19th at St. Clare's Church in Santa Clara, 725 Washington Street. A life celebration party will be held at the Hidden Villa Dana Center in the Los Altos Hills, 26870 Moody Road, following the service. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend. Those who would like to share memories of Linda can contact Rose Cabral at [email protected]. A tree will be planted in memory of Linda, gifts can be sent to P.O. I rented a room to Linda- many moons ago- and got the pleasure of continued contact with her over the years. She always cared about others- and was a real fighter for justice.. Look out heaven- here she comes! She left a beautiful jewel behind- her daughter Rose.

I knew Linda 27 years and since my early childhood. I have so many stories and funny memories. I will miss her. I know she's in a good place now. What a special woman. Everyone she touched was blessed to know her. No tears, just love and laughter; that's the way she would want us to feel. Love, Jen
