Doug White was the husband of my friend and high school classmate, Annette. I first met him when our children were very young and I was helping Annette organize the 15th Year Reunion activities for our high school class at Fremont High School in Sunnyvale. Doug was a wonderful, warm human being who gave countless hours of his time participating in his children’s activities. During the years our children attended Leigh High School and participated in the Leigh High School Marching Band, I had the privilege of working with Doug and Annette as fellow band parents. As a Band Booster, “Dad White” was indispensable, building much needed props, pitching in to help wherever needed. Though their children graduated several years ago and no longer participate in the band, Doug and Annette have continued to support the marching band program. The week of Doug’s death, the Leigh Marching Band performed their 2003 field show in his memory. He will be missed by many. My heartfelt condolences to Annette, Jason, Jennifer and Ryan, and their families.

My family and I lived by the Whites in Sunnyvale for over 30 years and watched Doug go from a teen into a fine man. We worried and prayed for him during his time in Viet Nam. He made us all proud as he served his country and saved two of his fellow soldiers lives. He will always be remembered by our family as a good and loving person, who gave so much of himself for everyone he met. Our heartfelt prayers go out to his family knowing he is in a place with his father and is in no pain. GOD bless your spirit dear man........We will surely miss you....
