Lorraine Miller Obituary

Lorraine (Pence) Miller
May 11, 1927-Jan. 5, 2013
Resident of San Jose, CA
Lorraine (Pence) Miller, of San Jose, passed away January 5, 2013 in Corvallis, OR. She was born in Palo Alto May 11, 1927 to Alice Mae and Thomas Harvey Pence.
Lorraine graduated Palo Alto High School in 1944, attended nursing school at San Jose State College. In 1946 she married Walter H. Miller. They raised four children, and in later years enjoyed taking their motor home to visit family and friends around the country. Lorraine kept many friends from high school, working often on the reunions. She participated in NorCal COPS and was close to many in the Santa Clara County Deputy Sheriff's Association.
Lorraine taught Sunday School, coached girls softball, served her church in many ways. She took great joy in her piano and participated in the handbell choir at her church. Christmas, her favorite season, always started in September.
Lorraine is survived by three loving children, Norman S. Miller of San Jose, Marilyn Beattie of Albany, OR, and Peggy Miller Anders of Aspers, PA. She loved her seven grandchildren James Anders, Becky Nieves, and Rachel Flynn, all of PA, Matthew Beattie, Sarah Beattie, Erin Hazen, and Kara Glenn in OR. Lorraine recently met her 3 great-grandchildren J.D. and Justin Anders and Luke Glenn, and was very happy to learn a fourth was on her way.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her son Douglas, a Santa Clara County Sheriff's Deputy killed in the line of duty in 1986, and husband Walter in 1997.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 PM January 21 at Saratoga Federated Church, 20390 Park Place, Saratoga, California. Private interment will be at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
