Louis Bronstein Obituary

Dr. Louis J. Bronstein Passed away on August 16, 2004 in Cupertino. Born in Detroit in 1912, Lou did his medical residency in Fresno before joining the Army to help the wounded in England during WWII. Returning from the war, he moved to San Jose after having briefly conducted a practice in Dos Palos, CA.

For most of his years as a General Practice MD and Surgeon, he served many generations of the families of the Willow Glen area from his Lincoln Ave office. He was a Rotarian for 63 years, the last 54 with the Rotary Club of San Jose. He served on many not for profit boards and was health advisor to many organizations including the Crippled Children's Society, the Boy Scouts and San Jose State University. He was a passionate and competitive golfer, a 50-year member of La Rinconada Country Club, and a wily card player.

He is survived by his loving wife Shirley, daughters Shelley Jacobson (Walnut Creek), Ris Berry-Double (San Jose), Erika Bronstein-Anderson (Bellingham, WA), Marci Longchamps (Clayton), 10 grandchildren, and 1 and soon to be 3 great grandchildren, and his many dear friends throughout the area.

Private services will be held for the family at a later date. Contributions preferred to be made in his memory to the El Camino Hospital Foundation, the Dialysis Unit.
