My deepest sympathy to the family of Mabel Mattos. She once toured me through Milpitas to visit the adobes and to interview a long-time resident for a newsletter article. She was so nice and I thoroughly enjoyed her company.

Sister Angelina will be riding with all of you tomorrow, as her brother, Gabriel, I first met Mable when I was about 7 and we came to pick cots on the farm. She would then make eggs and linguica-very deep fat in the frying pan becasue the linguica was juicy! At Christmas my wife,Patricia, sent a photo of my hand holding FAVA beans.. we had a bumper crop shared with all the neighbors(could have set up a fruit stand in front yard!) many had never tried FAVA but loved them. Will miss her gracious cards, notes, phone conversations..every giving, ever living....Fondly, Gabe and Pat Dutra, Sacramento CA.

Mabel-you were always seen with a smile, always offering your home for club meetings, always attending the many clubs you belonged to and so alert to the end. we loved your stories about growning up in Milpitas and you finally got to see the Alviso Adobe restored. Something you never thought would happened in your life time. You will be missed so much.

Mom - you are so deeply missed. Miss your stories of the old times, past relatives and getting ready to cut apricots. The legacy of homemade "Milpitas Gold" apricot jam has left with you. We miss you and hope you are enjoying the portuguese fiestas up tbere with all the relatives.
