Marimae McDonald Obituary



Marimae V. McDonald

Resident of San Mateo

Age 78, passed away suddenly on December 24, 2010. She was born on August 21, 1932, to Ferdinand and Cleta Johnson Voiland in Topeka, Kansas.

She earned a B.A. degree in child psychology from the University of Kansas in 1954. Marimae married Ted McDonald in October 1954. The couple lived in Alameda until they moved in 1958 to San Mateo, where they enjoyed their Highlands home for over fifty years.

Surviving are her husband Ted, daughter Devon McDonald of Sacramento, son David McDonald of Annecy, France, and her sister Frederica Everett of Manhattan, Kansas. Marimae's great-granddaughter Kimber was born in 2010 to grandson Thomas Occhipinti and his wife Marti of San Diego. Other grandchildren and their spouses are: Lindsay Chandler (Eric) of Carmel, CA; Delphine Ongaro (Tristan), of Annecy, France; and Jonathan Occhipinti of Chico, CA. Marimae will be missed by her sorority sisters of Gamma Phi Beta.

Professionally Marimae taught piano to youngsters, and she was honored in 1972 for her work with Aragon High School students. She volunteered at Lucille Packard Children's Hospital Auxiliary and was a docent at Filoli for many years.

A gathering of friends and family is planned for a later date.
