Mary Barkman Obituary

Mary Barkman Jan. 24, 1916-March 4, 2009 On Wed., 3/4 at 1:15 PM, God took the hand of our mother, Mary, and ushered her into Heaven, which she had awaited for so very long, Our dad, Ed, died 7 years ago, and she knew he was waiting there for her. What a joyous reunion they must have had! She was 93 years old. Born in Saskatchewan Canada, she was the youngest of seven children. Her goal of being a teacher was realized as she began her career in a one room school, K-12! Since then she has taught at 7 schools, classroom and music, where she enriched many lives. She lived an active, prayer filled life. She was a gifted seamstress, an artist (many oil paintings), and used her musical talents in praising God. She will be missed for her strength and spiritual depth. We, her family, include Sylvia Sperling and husband, Curt, grandchildren Kristin and Jerry, great grandchild, Atria- the apple of her eye-. and Lucas, her great great grandson. A memorial service will be held at Lincoln Glen Church, 2700 Booksin, S.J., 95125 on Sat. Mar. 14 at 1:00. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Lincoln Glen Manor Memorial Fund at the church address.
