Mary Jio Obituary

Mary T. Jio
Resident of San Jose
Mary Tsuyuko Jio was born on August 3, 1916, in Fairfield, CA and passed away peacefully on October 30, 2015, at age 99 after many years of declining health. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Joe Jio, and her brother Sam Kitabayashi. She leaves behind her loving daughters, Marian (Masa) Suhama, Louise (Bob) Hayamizu, and Joanne (Sterling) Makishima; adoring grandchildren, Jeff, Ryan, Denise (Keith), Mari, Courtney (Thai), Aly (Cristiano), and Lesley; and great-grandchildren, Owen, Shelby, and Camryn. The family would like to thank Setsuko Tsuchida, Latu Napaa, Pathways and Seasons Hospice, and the caregivers at Hanchett House for their loving care and support.
Mary was an excellent seamstress and cook; a dedicated volunteer; and a kind and thoughtful friend, aunt, grandma, and mom. With love and gratitude, we will miss her deeply, but her influence will be with us forever.
Private services have been held. Please visit www.willowglenfuneralhome.com for a more detailed biography. Donations may be made in her name to San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin's BWA or Generations Campaign, or to Yu-Ai Kai Senior Services.

Dear Marian, Louise and Joanne,

I remember your mom fondly , as I worked at San Jose Hospital for many years. I'd stop in the gift shop after lunch for a sweet, and your mom always had a smile for me. In talking with her I could see her "mischievous " smile every once in awhile when laughing about something or someone. Hope the good memories are kept close to your hearts, Becky Hawkins
