Matthew Joseph Nielsen, 61, entered into rest on January 8, 2016 in Stockton, CA. Born April 14, 1954 in Burlingame, CA. Matt is preceded in death by his loving parents Eugene and Dorothy Nielsen, brother Anthony, sister Linda Grimaud, and brother-in-law Steve Herendeen. He is survived by his two children Jamie and Justin (Holli) Nielsen, siblings, Lisa Herendeen, Brian (Beth) Nielsen, Holly Tenge and Rebecca (Doug) Metling and several nieces and nephews. Matt was blessed with 2 grandchildren Tyler and Brodey.
Matt grew up in Burlingame and attended Serra High School in San Mateo, CA. After graduating in 1972 he went on to become a Branch Manager for the Edward S Walsh Company for over 25 years until his retirement in 2010. One of his favorite hobbies was playing Golf. He was fortunate enough to take a couple trips to Hawaii and play a few rounds on his favorite golf course, the Ka'anapali Resort in Maui. He also enjoyed going to concerts at the old Cow Palace arena in San Francisco. Some of his favorite acts included Neil Diamond and the Righteous Brothers.
Among all of Matt's attributes, his family was the most important. He cherished each and every moment with them and especially those moments with his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his positive attitude, his great sense of humor and his huge loving heart. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
P.L Fry & Son is honored to be serving the Nielsen family during this difficult time. A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan 15 at Chez Shari, 305 N Union Road, Manteca.
