Matthew Stone Obituary

Matthew Stone Age 26, died unexpectedly on Friday, November 19, 2004 in Costa Rica. He was traveling for pleasure and language studies. Matt was completing a teaching credential while substitute teaching in Santa Clara and San Jose. He was a graduate of UC Berkeley where he majored in history and played on the Varsity Water Polo Team. He graduated from Mountain View High School and helped lead the school's water polo team to a CCS championship. He represented the United States on the Junior National Water Polo Team, traveling throughout Europe and Cuba.

Matt was passionate about music, practicing long hours on his guitar and keyboard. He loved his 'fleet' of remote controlled cars, fishing, snowboarding, and hiking in the redwoods. Matt was a fun loving person who always cared for and supported his family and friends. He had a great smile that accompanied an outgoing personality. He will be greatly missed.

Matt is survived by his loving parents, Dick and Mary Stone of Los Altos, and brother, Dr. Jason Stone of Los Angeles.

Friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, Nov. 29 from 5 - 9 p.m. and a funeral service on Tuesday, Nov. 30th at 11 a.m. both at the LIMA FAMILY SUNNYVALE MORTUARY, 1315 Hollenbeck Ave. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Portola and Castle Rock Foundation via the Stone Family.
