Mavis Parrish Obituary

Mavis Marten Parrish March 13, 1922-June 10, 2008 Mavis died peacefully at home Tuesday, June 10, 2008 after a long illness. Born to Frank and Mary Marten in San Jose, CA. Mavis graduated from Castilleja High School and U.C. Berkeley where she met her surviving husband George, whom she married in Houston, TX January 29, 1944. Loving mother of Jeff (Maryann) of Walnut Creek, Marten of Gilroy, Tony (Terri) of Petaluma, Heidi Franklin of Gilroy, and Scott of Salinas; grandmother of Quinn and Natalie Tudor and Nicole, Mikaila and Justin Parrish; sister of Margery (Henry) Richard of Santa Cruz and the late John F. Marten, Jr. She also leaves her caregiver Emily Campos of Gilroy. Mavis was very active in Children's Home Society, Gilroy Ladies Golf Group, Town Club, and the Special Olympics. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. Visitation Thursday, June 12, 2008, 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy. Funeral Mass Friday, June 13, 2008- 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Church, Gilroy. Donations to Special Friends C/O 7351 Rosanna St., Gilroy, CA 95020 in her memory would be appreciated.
