I just now found out about Melanie's passing while searching for her on FB. We worked together at Nordstrom's and we're extremely close. She was one of my favorite people and I'll always remember that time of my life by me and her taking our fifteen minute breaks and making each other crack up. She was beautiful inside and outside.

"She was the life of every party. She never knew a stranger. I remember when I met her. She's the most sweet, unselfish and bubbly person I've ever been lucky enough to know let alone be related to. To Aunt Regina and Uncle Ken I am so sorry for your loss. We will all see her again one day."

To Melanie's family and friends,

I just found out about this terrible, terrible loss for all those that ever knew Melanie. As a Middle School Student Melanie was a stand out as a phenomenal, multi-talented young lady who mentored and inspired all those she came in contact with. As her advisor at that time for Peer Counseling and "What's in What's Out" I had the privilege of seeing her shining light and kindness touch so many at such a young age. It breaks my heart to know that she is gone but I will always be grateful for having known her. My heartfelt condolences to her family and friends. Rest in peace lovely lady. You will remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know you.

I am so sorry that the world has lost such a beautiful, genuine, light filled human being. I hurt for Mel's family deeply. I am grateful for the opportunity to have known Melanie. I believe that Melanie didn't know a stranger. She saw the best in everyone and had a way about her that was so welcoming and accepting. Although Ive known her briefly, she made me feel like we had a shared history and were in every sense of the word, family. The Franklin/Abebe family get-togethers will not be the same without her. The world will not be the same without her.

To our beloved Melanie

Our lives go on without you
but nothing is the same
we have not to hide our heartache
when we speak your name
sad are the hearts that love you
silent are the tears that fall
living without you is the hardest part of all.
you did so many wonderful things in life.
you touch so many lives with your
warm caring spirit great personality
and pretty smile.
the special years will not return
when we are all together
but with the love in our hearts
you will be with us forever.

Mel, your smile and personality shined so brightly. I remember meeting you for the first time and being taken by your beauty. I asked you if you had been a dancer as a child because the way you carried yourself was so poised and elegant. You've given us so many laughs. Your sense of humor always made the party more fun! Everyone who's ever met you, even once, remembers you. You're simply unforgettable.

God was looking for a flower to add to His garden, He looked down here on earth and saw one, picked it and called it "MELANIE", now His garden is beaming over with Sunshine just as everyone did when Melanie would enter into a room. The Heavens are aglow with Sunshine, now that Melanie has been added to Gods crop.
She will truly be missed by us all but she left behind smiles, laughter and good times we will always remember.
May Melanie's soul and all the souls of the faithful departed through the Mercy of God rest in Peace forever.

To My Sister,

Words cannot honestly express the way I feel right now. When the shock wears off and reality sets in, I don't know how to deal with not being able to see you again. You were my only sister and best friend and I thank you for being the best TiTi to Denel and Julian. Although your life was cut tragically short your spirit will continue to live on through me and through the hearts of all the people you have touched. You were such a special person, larger than life, and your exuberant personality was contagious. Although your life was tragically cut short I promise you that I will not let your death be in vain. I love you sister and I will try to find solace in knowing that you are looking down on us from up above and that your light will shine on forever. God Bless you sister and I pray that you are resting in peace.

To the Dunn Family, my prayers are with you and may God give you the strenght during this difficult time. I am extremely sad to have heard of Mel tragedy. She was taken away too soon. Mel was a kind human being, smart and funny. I loved your daughter and always spoke very highly of her. I was very proud of her when she was accepted into Berkely, and I could not stop bragging to people of her accomplishment. She worked hard in school and had determination. I loved her passion, self confidence, and her lovely spirit. She always respected others for who they were and positively saw the potential in every individual. She will be missed.

Melanie is part of our memories of our girls' childhood. She was a kind, funny, intelligent girl with a lot of energy and drive and a good friend. We remember the fun Melanie brought to every thing she took part in. We have been so saddened by her passing. Our hearts ache for her and her family and our prayers are ever with them .

Jonathan my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Miguel always spoke so highly of your sister and your family. We know that the presence of the Lord is with you during this devastating time. He is with you always.
Sincerly,

Melanie. Even though I didn't know you well, I do remember you from High School and you were always kind to me even though I was shy and didn't talk a whole lot. I wish I had gotten to know you better. My condolences are with your family and friends. You were taken way to soon from this place and I know you are in a better place now and hope you can see all the outpourings of love for you from those who knew you well and those like me who didn't but were touched by your kindness and bright light anyway.
