Norma DeLap Obituary

Norma Claire DeLap Joined her Heavenly Father on Nov. 24, 2004 after a courageous battle against cancer. Born in Ely, MN, on May 13, 1932, Norma Claire moved to San Leandro, CA in 1950 and graduated from St. Elizabeth's High School in Oakland. She continued her education at Providence College where she received her degree in Nursing in 1953. She married the love of her life in 1957, Fred DeLap, who preceded her in death in 1986. Norma Claire had a long, rewarding career as a RN at O'Connor Hospital in San Jose where she worked predominately in labor and delivery, retiring in 1996.

Loving mother of Jeanette Georgianna (Michael) of Auburn, James DeLap of San Jose, Karen Casillas of San Jose, and Jeffrey DeLap of Portland, OR. Devoted Grandmother to Brian, Natalie, Michael, Jenny, Alexander, and Trevor. Beloved Daughter of Richard Stenrud of Hayward and preceded into heaven by her Mother, Rachel, and Grandmother, Emma Schur. Dear Sister of Rowland Stenrud, Regina Brown (Ben), Martin Stenrud, Madeleine Maffei (Joseph) and Evelyn Stenrud. Survived by her caring Aunts and Uncles, Burrell Kubacki, Madeleva Schur, O.S.B., Roland Schur, James Schur, Herbert Schur, and many wonderful cousins. Family, friends, and colleagues will always remember Norma Claire as a caring, compassionate person with a quick wit and she will be dearly missed by all.

Friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tues. Nov. 30 at 5:00 p.m. followed by a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. both at the Lima Family Sunnyvale Mortuary, 1315 Hollenbeck Ave. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wed. Dec. 1, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 2800 Mission College Blvd. in Santa Clara. Interment private. Donations to the American Cancer Society preferred.
