Norman Wade Obituary

WADE, Norman Taylor-- entered into rest on Saturday, April 6, 2002, at age 82, in Redwood City. A native of Johnson City, TN he served in the National Guard and Air Force Band. He studied music at Kentucky University at Bowling Green, at Loyola University in New Orleans, and earned a Masters degree in music at Columbia University in NYC. In 1947, he moved to San Francisco, California at the time of his marriage to Kathleen Royal Smith, a fellow music graduate of Columbia.

Settling in Menlo Park, and later, Redwood City, he was a Stanford University linear accelerator technician in the Hansen High-Energy Physics Laboratory to 1971.
Retiring early, he enjoyed his large family, and pursued his hobbies of tennis, reading, sailing on the bay, choir directing, vocal and piano music, and carpentry. Norman Wade was an exceptionally tender and loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his devoted wife Kathleen R. Wade; sister Esther Bare of Knoxville, TN; brother Walter Wade of Memphis, TN; son Patrick; daughter Frances McVittie; daughter Gia Ghilarducci, son John; daughter K.T.; daughter Edie; and eleven grandchildren.
