Paul Organ Obituary

Paul Gerard Organ, MD, of Oakland CA, left planet earth on Dec 5, 2022 at the age of 66. Paul was born in Houston, TX, but grew up in Omaha NE. He received a B.S. in Biology from Harvard in 1978, Paul attended Medical School at Washington University in St. Louis. Paul became a Child Psychiatrist through Stanford and Cambridge, before moving to Phoenix where he worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs, often flown to reservations in AZ, NM, and OK, a rare doctor of color to serve those Native populations. Paul was not only a psychiatrist, but an educator, non profit administrator, consultant and speaker in academic circles from Atlanta to Washington, D.C., Oakland to San Jose, and a full circle return to Omaha as a prison psychiatrist for the NE Correctional System. Paul was a beloved uncle, a camera slung over his shoulder, practiced T. M. and yoga, traveled from the Swiss Alps to Egypt and lived in Belize, and was down for any adventure, be it a cross country move, rafting down a river, or living in a yurt. Paul is survived by his siblings, Claude, Brian, Gregory, David, Sandra, and Rita, along with 10 nieces and nephews, one grand nephew and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Claude Jr., and Elizabeth Mays Organ. Paul's life will be celebrated in 2023 in Oakland, CA at a time and place TBD. Paul,

May you RIP!

Our paths crossed many times and always had a positive experience. Whether it was 8th grade football, high school sports or later on in life after you became a physician, you were always positive and a great teammate.

Thanks for all you gave to this life and now you get to enjoy the fruits.
