Pauline LEWIS Obituary

Pauline Helene

Lewis (Novacovich)

Aug. 13, 1912 ~ Jan. 7, 2011

Resident of Hillsborough

Pauline, also known as Lena, passed peacefully on Friday, with her family by her side, at the age of 98. A native of Watsonville, she lived in Hillsborough for 60 years. Pauline touched many lives with her kind and gentle spirit. She was the anchor of her family, supporting them through her willingness to listen and her honest responses. We were blessed to have her with us for 98 years, and are very thankful that her mind was sharp until the end. Her favorite things to do were gardening, watching the food network, the game shows, reading newspapers, writing letters, and doing word searches.

In addition, one of her greatest joys was spending time with her family and friends. In 1935, she married Melvin, who was the love of her life, for almost 65 years until he passed in 2000. Throughout the years she helped raise many of her nieces, nephews and grandchildren. She is survived by her children Lorraine Lewis of Hillsborough, and Carolyn Wicher of Raleigh, North Carolina. Her younger brother Lloyd Lettis, of Mountain View, also survives her. She has five grandchildren, Michelle Oberti of San Mateo, Michael Oberti of Santa Clara, Allison Eidinger of Bellingham, Washington, Melanie Pitts of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Kristen Matthews of New York City, New York. In addition, she has two great-grandchildren, Brayden and Kenley Eidinger of Washington.

Pauline "Lena" is known for her loving and giving ways. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend, someone who you could always talk to. She will be missed and her spirit will live on with us in all the wonderful memories.

Family and Friends are invited to a mass of Christian burial that will be held on Friday, January 14th, at 2pm at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church (also known as the Valley Church) in Watsonville. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to Santa Clara University School of Engineering, 500 El Camino Real, Santa Clara, CA 95053. Mehl's Colonial Chapel

The time I spent Pauline was more then a blessing. Sharp, witty, funny, intelligent, honest, sweet are just a few words that I can think of to describe her. I loved our conversations and listening to her stories. I enjoyed watching games shows with her and yelling at the t.v. :) Pauline will be missed very much and thought of often. I love you Pauline!!!
