Phil Hoffert, 80, passed away on Aug 12 after falling and suffering a brain bleed. His great sense of humor and welcoming smile will be missed by all who knew him.
Phil was born in Aberdeen, SD. At age 5, he moved to Portland, OR. He graduated from Portland State Univ. and received his Masters Degree from Santa Clara Univ. Phil was a counselor in the Union School District and a MFC in private practice. He was a great listener and child advocate. He enjoyed gardening and playing the piano.
Phil is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Susan, daughters Laura Mozer (Todd), and Kimberley Hoffert (Rusty). He was the proud Grandfather of 7. He is also survived by 3 siblings, Marilyn Thomas, Jim Hoffert and Linda Hoffert.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, Sept. 20th at 1pm at Ananda Church of Self-Realization, at 2171 El Camino Real in Palo Alto.

What a wonderful neighbor, friend and special confidant over the years. My belated condolences to Phil's sister Marilyn and Linda and to Jim as well as heartFelt condolences to Phil's wife and children. I. Know you made his life fuller and contented. I wrote to Phil just a day or so ago. Hopefully the JazzShrink email gets to him in heaven. I think it might. My brother Bill passed a number of years ago and I sent Phil his childhood friend's vinyl records.
