Phillip Olmos Torres Sr, born on Oct. 9,1931, joined his heavenly family after a long illness on Sept. 8, 2015. Phillip grew up in Mtn.View, eloped with his love Janet Lerma on Oct 14, 1949 and together they raised 7 children.
At age 20, Phillip joined the Unites State Air Force where he proudly served more than 20 years. His service included a tour in France and the Vietnam War. After his last tour in Guam, he retired from the military, and moved his family back to Mtn View. Upon returning, he worked in the public sector including the Palo Alto School District, Siemens Electronics, and went on to open his own private security business.
Phillip was an avid golfer, a member of the Civil Engineers Golf Club, VFW and Moose Lodge. His favorite hobby was hanging out at his local pub Francesca's where he cheered on his favorite teams, the LA Dodgers and Miami Dolphins. His life included his yearly family vacations traveling the coast and Mid West. He also enjoyed his trips to the casinos, where he was lucky most of the time.
He is the son of the late Atanacia Ramirez. Loving husband of Janet Lerma Torres for 66 years. His siblings includes the late John Sonny Torres and Joe Angel Torres (Aurora), surviving brother Frank Ramirez Jr. (Lynda) and sister Maria Serrano (Art). His immediate family includes his sons Phillip Jr. (Lisa), the late John Sonny (Glenda) and Joseph (Anna). Daughters Catalina Duenas (David), Gloria Reynaga (Sal), Josephine Shields, Theresa Capote (Leroy), numerous grand, great-grand, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews which he deeply loved and cherished. Phillip was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
Visitations begin Tues.Sept.15th at 5 p.m. with Vigil Service at 7 p.m. at Cusimano Family Colonial Mortuary, 96 W. El Camino Real, Mtn.View. Funeral Mass Weds. Sept. 16th, 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 582 Hope St., Mtn. View. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Los Altos. Please view/sign guestbook:
