Reed Laxier Obituary

Reed Laxier
March 29, 1937 - July 7, 2022
Resident of San Jose
Reed Blyden Laxier, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, died at home surrounded by family on July 7th, 2022, less than seven weeks after the death of his wife of 62 years, Marge Laxier.
Reed was known to most as Bill. Bill was born in New York in 1937 and grew up in Brooklyn, NY. He moved to Windham, NY as a teen where he worked on a farm while attending Windham Ashland Jewett High School, graduating in 1955. He then attended Oneonta College in New York where he studied to be a teacher. It was there that he met Marge and fell in love. He graduated in 1959 and they married that same year. Bill and Marge moved to California in 1961, eventually settling into the Montevideo neighborhood in San Jose to raise their family.
Bill started his long career in education teaching at Oster Elementary School. He earned his M.A. in Counseling from San Jose State University and became a School Counselor at Dartmouth Middle School. Later, he became Principal of Mirassou and Ross Elementary Schools in San Jose. Bill finished his career teaching fifth grade at Lone Hill Elementary School and substitute teaching for Union School District. In retirement, Bill volunteered his time as a chaplain for Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Marge, and many lifelong friends in both New York and California. Bill is survived by his four children, Scott (Teri), Meg (Tim), Denise, and Jeff (Cate); and his grandchildren, Grace, John, and Gracie. Bill was a committed father and steadfast mentor and friend to many. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Bill and Marge's Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 3151 Union Ave, San Jose. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church's General Fund or to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.

I just found out about Marge & Bill's death. They were very dear to the Mardock family.

I wished I had known of this, as I would have attended the Memorial service.
God bless the family.
