Carol and Ellen,

We were stunned to hear the news of Dick's death. My heart has moved from my own grief over Bob's "leaving" to what your family must be feeling. It seems so trite to say that all I have to offer is prayers for you all at this time. Rest assured that they are being sent your way. Take care of that precious little Mary. She was surely the light of Dick's life. Will try and write more later, when we are both ready.

Much love,

Kate

I met Dick for the first time this past year in Omaha. Bridget and Bob always spoke so highly of him. It was an honor to meet someone so loved. He will be very much missed by Bridget and I.

So sorry to hear about Dick. I am one of his first cousins. My father was Michael C. P. Hegarty. Haven't seen Dick since we were pre-teeners. Keep up with the family through Mary Catherine, Danny's wife. You have my prayers and sympathy.

I was granted the wonderful experience of meeting my brother for the first time in mid October of 2004. I did not know him very well, as we never got another opportunity to meet again, but I feel so fortunate that we had the time together to talk. I so wanted to experience a future relationship with my brother, and even though this was not possible, I am happy for the time we did have. May the Good Lord embrace him and grant him peace.
