Richard Palmer Obituary

Richard "Rich" Palmer
Resident of Fresno
Richard "Rich" Palmer, 66, died at home on September 17, 2018, surrounded by family. Rich was born in New London, Connecticut, the only child of Jack and Doris Palmer. A longtime Bay Area resident, Rich was drawn to Fresno by his love of the San Francisco Giants and minor-league baseball. He visited Beiden Field, original home of the Fresno Grizzlies, and was instantly enraptured. A lifelong bachelor, Rich met his future wife Claudia in Fresno. They fell in love and were married in 2011. He is survived by his father, Jack; his wife Claudia and stepchildren Andy and Brianna Hatcher and Justin Loyear.
A graduate of Santa Clara University and a former resident of Mountain View, California, Rich worked as an executive recruiter in the tech industry. He was an avid metal detectorist, an original Grizzlies season-ticket holder and served on the team's advisory board. In the 1990s Rich lived and worked in Sheffield, England, and that city was forever the "home of his heart." He was a true "Son of Sheffield."
Rich will be missed for his sense of humor, his kind heart, his intellect and his love for his family and friends. He lived by the mantra "The only thing we can control in life is our attitude."
A Celebration of Life in Rich's honor will be held September 29, 2018 at 12:00pm at Chukchansi Park, 1800 Tulare Street, Fresno, CA 93721, in the stadium club.
