Bob Zoller passed away peacefully at the age of 90, surrounded by his family, on September 10, 2023. He was born on February 23, 1933 in
New Brunswick, New Jersey to Anthony and Marie Zoller. Bob graduated from Highland Park High School where he was class President, member of the National Honor Society, and recognized for outstanding academic achievement. He went on to attend college at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), while also a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity and participated in the Air Force ROTC program. He graduated with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Business and Engineering in June 1955. Bob met his future wife, Roberta Owen on a blind date in the Fall of 1952 and they married on December 17, 1955. After college he began work with Westinghouse Electric Corp. in Baltimore, MD; but received a leave of absence to enter the Air Force in June 1956. There he took flight training and flew DC-6s as an Aircraft Commander for Military Transport. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force as Captain on June 1960 and went back to work for Westinghouse.His thirty-six-year career with Westinghouse took Bob and his growing family from Baltimore, MD, to
Horseheads, NY and finally to
San Jose, CA in 1971. Bob retired in June 1991. During retirement he enjoyed fishing on his boat in Monterey Bay and later sailing his Catalina- 34 sailboat for 18 years in the San Francisco Bay. Bob relished his many vacations to Hawaii with his wife, Roberta; while also volunteering at Mirassou Winery and Sacred Heart Community Service. But he was happiest surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, sister Betty Kneen, four nephews and a niece. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Roberta, daughters Catherine (Harry) Edwards, Barbara (Ken) Westmoreland, Elizabeth Zoller and Jimmy Miller, sons Robert (Maria) Zoller and Paul (Elizabeth) Zoller. Grandchildren Kellee, Evan, Daniel, Caitlin, Victor, Alexandra, Alisha, Andrea, and Tom. Great grandchildren Ashlee, Malia, Isaac, Serena, and Alex, Olivia. Plus great-great grandchildren Eliana. A celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 10:30am at Holy Spirit Church, 1200 Redmond Ave,
San Jose, CA 95120. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to
your favorite charity.
