Ron Woodrum Obituary

Ron Woodrum passed away at the age of 67 from Dementia on December 17, 2022 at his home in San Jose surrounded by his loving family. It was heartbreaking to lose him, but a relief to know that his suffering is over.Ron was born in Chadron, Nebraska, moving to Southern California in 1958 then to San Jose in 1962.Ron married his wife Phyllis in 1979 living in Cambrian Park then settling in Almaden in 1986 where they raised their 3 children: Terina, Tarah and Thomas.Ron was an adventure seeker, hard worker and lover of life. As a teenager he worked at Buck Norred Stables and Ponderosa Ranch in Incline Village; even bull riding in the rodeo. Later in life he was a dedicated and respected business owner starting The IronWorks Gym then the very successful University Construction which he operated from 1984-2006. He went on to work for Devcon Construction then The Irvine Company until his retirement in 2017.Ron worked hard but always took time to enjoy his family and friends. Favorite trips included camping when his kids were young, time in Cabo and Hawaii and a lot of time spent at the family cabin in Pinecrest where he skied and hiked. After his kids were grown, he and Phyllis were able to take exciting trips around the world forming many happy memories. He had a strong group of childhood friends that sustained into adulthood; these friends and the adventures they went on held a special place in his heart. He was passionate about motorcycles and loved going on Sunday rides with Phyllis on the back of his bike. He was always busy working on home and yard improvement projects and tinkering at his workbench. But, of all the things he enjoyed in life, what brought him the most happiness was being with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Ron leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Phyllis Woodrum, daughters Terina Khanna (Scott) and Tarah Goldberg (Simon), son Thomas Woodrum, mother Carol Woodrum, and grandchildren Alec, Drew, Ophelia and Clementine. Ron was preceded in death by his father Merrill (Woody)Woodrum. Ron loved his family and friends and was truly loved in return and will forever be missed.A celebration of Ron's life will be held in May. For info contact [email protected]
