Roy Roe Obituary

Roy Eugene Roe (affectionately called "Poppy" by his grandchildren) peacefully went home to Jesus on August 24, 2022 at age 92. Roy was born to Joseph Dorsey Roe & Alma Birdine Roe on November 29, 1929 in Versailles, Missouri. Roy was one of six siblings: Biz, Joe, Ed, Dorsey Jr. and David. He served in the US Navy from November 1948 to November 1952 in San Diego. He worked for the San Jose Mercury News for 35 years as a printer. Roy met his wife, Joyce Johnston in 1967 at First Baptist Church in San Jose, California. They married February 24, 1968 and have 2 daughters, Lisa Diane (Roe) Hotchkiss and Gloria Jean (Roe) Goebel. Roy and Joyce lived in San Jose, California until 2003 and then moved to Oregon City, Oregon to be near their daughters and grandchildren. In addition to being a dedicated and loving father, Roy also loved his 4 granddaughters and had a deep abiding love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is survived by his wife, daughters, grandchildren, sister Biz (Roe) Jaeger, cousin, nieces, and nephews.Roy made the choice to donate his body to science. No public service will be held. His wishes were for his wife, daughters, son-in-laws and grandchildren to gather for dinner to remember and celebrate him. This will happen on his birthday in November. He also requested no flowers but instead donations be made in his honor to Samaritan's Purse International Relief (https://www.samaritanspurse.org/memorial-page/roy-eugene-roe-oregon-city-or/).Death takes the body,God takes the soulOur minds hold the memoriesOur hearts keep the loveOur faith lets us know we will meet again….SOON!
