Our beloved sister and aunt, Shirley Mae Zamora ("Shirl"), passed away unexpectedly on October 6 at the age of 65. Shirl was born in 1951 in Raton, New Mexico, as the youngest of six siblings. A resident of San Jose since the age of 5, she graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1969 and earned an Associates of Arts degree from San Jose City College.
Shirl was a dedicated and selfless caregiver to her parents, Manuel and Rose Zamora. She is survived by her siblings – Robert ("Sonny") Zamora, Larry Zamora, Manuel ("Junie") Zamora, Helen Cromp, and Pauline Estrada – along with 10 nieces and nephews, 7 grandnieces and grandnephews, and 3 great-grandnieces.
A memorial service is planned for Shirl on Monday, October 24, 2016, 2pm, at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery.
