Stanley "Stan" Lee, of Gilroy, CA passed suddenly on July 6, 2021, due to a heart attack at the age of 64. He was born in San Francisco, CA, shortly after his parents, were reunited when his mother and siblings arrived from Hong Kong. The youngest of six children, he grew up in the Mission district. Stan received a BA in Psychology and Social work and a MSW from SFSU. He also earned a MBA from USC.
Stan began a 32-year career at Santa Clara County Department of Family and Children Services in 1986 and served in a wide variety of positions until his retirement in 2017. He had a passion for teaching and mentoring less-experienced social workers both in and out of the department. He taught and served on multiple committees at the School of Social Work at SJSU.
Stan enjoyed working in his garden, playing chess, bicycling (when younger, motorcycling) watching sports (especially the 49ers), going to movies, woodworking, spending time with family and friends and, of course, a good bottle of wine or whisky.
Stan is survived by his sisters Kate Lee and Grace Hanna; his sister-in-law Wanda Lee, eight nieces and nephews, eleven grandnieces and grandnephews, and his loving partner Marie Mauboussin. He is preceded in death by his parents Kue Lee and Yip Babe Von; sister, Lian Li; brother, Ling Lee, a baby brother, and nephew Zhu Zi Wah.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 24th at 2 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park, in San Jose. A reception will follow.
