Thomas Hamamoto Obituary

HAMAMOTO, Thomas T. -- Passed away on June 30, 2003 at the age of 70. He was a long time resident of Palo Alto and an active member of the Palo Alto Buddhist Temple. Tom will be greatly missed for his friendliness and sense-of-humor, tireless energy, take-charge personality and generosity. Tom was a talented craftsman from large construction to very detailed woodwork projects and he could fix just about anything. A second generation Californian, Tom was born in Loomis, CA and attended San Jose State University where he received a degree in Civil Engineering. After serving in the Korean War, he worked for the California Division of Highways & CA Public Utilities Commission for 36 years. He helped construct most of the Highway overpasses in the South Bay. Tom is survived by his devoted wife Emily, son Glenn (Nancy), son Mark (Satomi), daughter Kris Tanaka (David) and loving grandchildren Rachel, Kelly, Alyssa, Brandon, and Josh Tanaka, and much loved brothers Sakaye, Goichi (Alice), Yutaka (Harriet), Max (Sumi), Harry (Sally), George (dec. Kiyo), and sister Toshiko (Muneo) Masaki, as well as those who have preceded him in death, brothers Takeshi and Kazuo. Tom leaves behind many dear nieces, nephews and their families, as well as many, many dear friends. Memorial Services will be held at the Palo Alto Buddhist Temple, 2751 Louis Road, Palo Alto, CA on Tuesday, July 8, 2003 at 2:00p.m.
