Thomas Joseph Moreno

Thomas Joseph Moreno passed away at the age of 85 after a brief illness on Tuesday, January 17. A lifelong resident of Mountain View, Tom graduated high school in 1956 before serving in the U.S. Army at Fort Ord in Monterey and Fort Lewis in Washington State. After brief stint with the USPS, Tom joined the United Parcel Service in 1964 as a driver and worked there until his retirement 36 years later. An avid sports fan of all Bay Area teams and all sports in general, Moreno was a "walking encyclopedia" of sports knowledge.When not watching a game on TV or listening on the radio, Tom could often be found tending to his beautiful array of bonsai plants in his backyard, which he loved doing in his retirement years.He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sylvia (Lennon), and daughters Frances Risen of Sunnyvale, Laura Mega of Las Vegas, NV, Susan Moreno (Therese) of Tacoma, WA, stepsons John Bagley (Monique) of Los Banos and Sylvio Lennon (Micha) of Kings Beach. Tom enjoyed spending time with family and friends, frequent trips to Las Vegas, the Monterey Bay Area, and was a beloved "Papa" to his 5 grandchildren: Zachary Risen, Madison Bagley, Sylvio Lennon Jr., Giovanni Bagley and Vincent Lennon. Fortunately, Tom did get to meet his one great-grandchild, Jameson, before his passing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Frances Moreno and his sister Laura Moreno.Tom will be greatly missed and never forgotten by all of his family, friends and numerous coworkers from his days at UPSServices will be held Fri.
