Thomas G. Simon

Thomas G. Simon Resident of Mountain View Tom died at home on February 27, 2010 of pancreatic cancer. His loving, caring wife Gina (Gyorgyi) was at his side. Tom was born in Budapest, Hungary on May 19, 1935, son of Laszlo and Yolan. Tom was a Holocaust survivor by luck and miracle, also by the actions of Raoul Wallenberg. Tom was a fourth year student at the Electrical Engineering School of the Budapest Technical University when he joined the uprising against the communist dictatorship. He had to flee to Austria when the fight was defeated. He came to the United States, was admitted to the MIT and graduated as an Electronic Engineer. He also served in the military. Tom had a successful career in the electronic and semiconductor industry and funded the "Thomas G. Simon Scholarship" at the MIT. Tom is mourned by his cousins Judith Isaacson and Erwin Kelen and many long time friends. The graveside service was at Shalom Gardens on March 1. Gifts in Tom's memory shall be made to MIT.
