Trinidad Figueroa Obituary

Trinidad Garcia Figueroa Jr. In Loving Memory Trinidad Figueroa, respected Businessman, talented Athlete, beloved Husband, Father and Friend; deceased at the all too early age of 57, on October 11th, 2007. He is survived by his wife Evangelina, his children Faustino, Marisela, Marcos and his son-in-law Erik. His circle of love extended to adopted family and friends whom he loyally loved and embraced. Trini, an avid mentor and philanthropist used his love of basketball and his example of selflessness and loyalty to teach those around him the true meaning of sportsmanship and generosity. Trini loved life to the fullest. He was born in Juarez, Mexico, raised in El Paso, Texas and graduated from Bowie High in 1969. Trini was offered a basketball scholarship at the University of Texas, El Paso, but instead moved to San Jose, CA to be with his family. He attended S.J. City College where he played basketball and boxed. After only 6 months of training and no prior matches, he won the West Coast Golden Glove Boxing Championship at the age of 20. In college, Trini met his future wife, Evangelia. Shortly thereafter, Trini served in the Army and the Reserves. He began his career with Pacific Bell where he was promoted in short order. After over 15 years as a successful manager, he left Pacific Bell to start Micon Telecomm, Inc. with his wife. During Micon's 18 years of success, he generously donated time and money to social justice and the less fortunate. He used his company to encourage and mentor youth. All of us fortunate enough to have known Trini will miss his "larger than life" persona as we experience the loss that his early passing has left in our lives! Friends are invited to attend Wake Services 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 16, 2007 and Funeral Services 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2007, both at Lima Family Funeral Home, 710 Willow Street, San Jose, CA. Interment to follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park, San Jose, CA.

To My Big Brother and Hero,
Trini, I am really going to miss you, what am I going to do now? Thank you for making me feel like I was part of your High school circle of friends. I was amaze of all the stories that you and your friends told the last time we went to Texas. Just listening to all the stories I felt like that little kid that was transfix by every move every shot you took when you played at Bowie High school. You know I always wanted to be a Bowie Bear, but it wasn’t meant to be. You really took a big chunk out of my heart, but you left me with great memories, I will cherish them and share them with my kids.
Love you
Your little Brother
Carlos

Trini was a great person. We used to worked out together every morning at our Community Boot Camp at first in Milpitas, and then San Jose City College. I'll always remember Trini as the man with a funny, warm, caring, and bubbly personality. This is very tragic and my extreme condolences to his family.

Mari, your dad had the most smiling eyes I've ever seen. They revealed his love for life, family, and God, and shone with intelligence and love and peace. I'm so glad I had a chance to know him. Thank you for that opportunity.
