Ann Munter Obituary
Ann 'Heidi' Munter
With profound sadness, we-her loving husband Paul, daughter Amy and Dustin Hautala, sons Paul, Phillip and Genica Munter-announce the passing of our beloved wife and mother, Ann "Heidi" Munter, who passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 14, 2025, at St Mary's Hospital in Duluth, at the age of 68.
Born on July 11, 1956, in Chisholm, Minn., she lived a life rooted in love, honesty, and quiet strength. Her presence was a steady light in the lives of those who knew her, and her absence will be deeply felt.
Some of her happiest days were spent camping on Namakan Lake with her husband and family, where she found joy pontooning, fishing, and peace in simplicity, and fulfillment in just being together.
At home, she found peace and pride in her beautiful rural yard, where she poured her heart into countless gardens-both vegetable and floral, each one a reflection of her care and creativity.
Her love language was quality time, and she gave it generously. Whether sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee, taking a walk through the yard, or simply being present in someone's moment of need-that was her way of saying "I love you." She was the one that held our family together, the one we leaned on when life got hard. She offered a shoulder to cry on and never shied away from giving the difficult, honest advice we needed to hear-always delivered with love.
She loved good-natured banter and BS'ing - her quick wit and dry humor could light up any room, But she didn't suffer fools lightly; Her honesty, humor and no-nonsense nature were a big part of what made her unforgettable.
She didn't seek the spotlight, but her quiet wisdom, loyalty, and deep compassion made her the heart of our family. She inspired those around her to be their best selves-not through words alone, but by the way she lived. Her legacy is one of strength, integrity, and love that never had to be spoken to be understood.
Heidi was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Mutsi Redmond; sisters Louise Redmond and Peggy Redmond (in infancy); sister-in-law Midge Redmond; brother-in-law Bob Romer; and her parents-in-law, Earl David and Mirriam Munter.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Paul Munter; daughter Amy and son-in-law Dustin Hautala; sons Paul Munter of Mt. Iron, and Phillip Munter and daughter-in-law Genica Munter of Buhl. She was a proud grandmother to Dylan Peterson and great-grandmother to Isabella Peterson. She is also survived by her siblings: John Redmond and special friend Diane, Tom and Sonjia Redmond, Pete Redmond, Christine and Vic Thielke, Marilyn and Mark Rossman, Kathy Romer, Steve and Deb Redmond, Mark and Marianne Redmond, Keith and Cheryl Redmond, Rita and Kevin Kealy, Scott Redmond, Kelly Redmond, Glenn Redmond, Marty and Sheri Redmond; and by her brothers-in-law: Pat and Gayle Munter of Poulsbo, WA, Bruce and Linn Munter of Rancho Santa Fe, CA, Bill and Deb Munter of Balkan, MN
She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
Though not religious, Heidi lived by the Golden Rule-treat others the way you want to be treated.
Per Heidi's request there will be no public service held.
