Anne Sophia Mayme Pyhala, 82, of Vermillion Lake Township, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in her home on Saturday, October 28, 2023.
She was born in Biwabik to Emil and Saima (Carlson)) Pyhala on May 21, 1941. She graduated from Embarrass High School in 1959. That Fall she enrolled and completed her course at the Carey-Gaspard School of Business in Duluth for speed-writing, shorthand and typing.
Anne applied for work at the Northern Electric Cooperative in Virginia and worked as a Key Punch Operator and Billing Clerk for the next twenty years or so when she decided to move to Embarrass and change employment. She accepted a job at the State Bank of Tower for the following several years.
In the early 80's she moved to her maternal grandmother's home, which she later inherited from her uncle.
Anne was a member of the Pike Apostolic Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her brother Arthur (Edith) of Inman, S.C.; and sisters, Aili Nelmark of Embarrass, Edith (Donald) Bisila of Circle Pines, Minn., Sandra (Robert) Mattila of Brush Prairie, Wash.; and many nephews and nieces living in various parts of the country.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Saima; four brothers, Francis, Henry and wife, Karen, Emil (Vester), and Edwin; one sister, Ethel; and brother-in-law Gust Nelmark.
Funeral service will be in the Pike Apostolic Lutheran Church on Monday, November 6, 2023, at 11 a.m. following visitation at 10 a.m. Lunch and fellowship following. Arrangements are with the Landmark Funeral Home in Virginia.
