Beatrice E. (Andrews) Schmidt
Our beloved mother and grandmother Beatrice Elizabeth Schmidt, 94, of Virginia, MN, passed away peacefully July 3, 2023 at Essentia Hospital Virginia.
Bea was born April 29, 1929 to George and Lena Olive (Fleming) Andrews in Leonidas, MN.
She graduated from Chisholm High School in 1947. She then attended the Hibbing General Hospital Program of Nursing through the College of St. Scholastica receiving her Registered Nursing Degree. She worked in Washington, D.C., Hibbing, MN, then in Virginia as a supervisor of nursing at the Convalescent Hospital until her retirement. In June 1963, Bea married the love of her life, Eugene Schmidt, and they made their home in Virginia, MN. They enjoyed many years at their lake place at Bear Island with family and friends. They traveled throughout the United States and Europe.
Bea especially enjoyed downhill skiing, and for many years was a "Mountain Hostess' at Giants Ridge. She was a member of PEO (Philanthropic Education Organization) where she held many positions. She was a member of the Chisholm Baptist Church. Bea will be remembered for her faith in the Lord and her unending devotion to her family.
Bea was proud of her English heritage and anyone who knew her knew she loved her cup of tea, Lipton with a little milk and insisted "make the water boiling hot!'
Beatrice is survived by her children: Kathryn (Larry) Sandnas, Karon (Tom) Urick and Karl (Lynne Bordwell) Schmidt, all of Virginia. Grandchildren: Melissa (Rick) Axelson, Melanie (Jason) Bridges, Laura (Jeff) Johnson, Matthew (Jennifer Bradach) Sandnas, Kelly (Ryan) Dethloff, Shelby (Travis) Peterson, Natalie (Nemanja) Radosevic, Kevin Urick and Logan Schmidt. Nineteen great-grandchildren. Brother: David (Terry) Andrews. Nieces: Dr. Tracy Andrews and Dr. Tammy (Dr. Dean Bruns) Andrews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Eugene and son Erick Schmidt. Siblings: June Colburne and Aubrey Johnson.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 11, at 11 a.m. at the Chisholm Baptist Church. Pastor Dan Erickson will officiate.

My sympathy to hear of Beatice's passing. I delivered Meals on Wheels to this lovely lady . She would always come to the door so happy to see me and thank me for bringing her meal. I will always remember her warm and caring smile.
