Beverly Flankey Obituary

Beverly Ann Flankey

Beverly Ann Flankey, 87, passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Tennova Healthcare in Clarksville, Tenn.

She was born on September 8, 1938, in Virginia, Minn., to Walla and Ann Samppala.

After graduation from Mountain Iron High School, Bev went on to be a hairdresser and later a teachers aide. She resided in Cloquet and on Lake Vermilion, but in 2007 moved to be closer to grandchildren in Tennessee. She was an accomplished artist and many of her paintings were featured in the Art Guild at Fairfield Glade, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fred (Bucky) Flankey, both parents, and her brother Walfred (Sonny) Samppala.

She is survived by her sons Steven (Laurie), Todd (Carrie), and Dale. Granddaughters Stacy (Eric) Scism, Amber (Stephen) Owens, and four great-grandchildren.

We invite you to share in a ceremony with family and friends, which will take place at noon Monday, October 20, 2025, at the Greenwood Cemetery in Virginia, Minn.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, October 20, 2025, at the City of Mountain Community Center, 8586 Enterprise Drive.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Cloquet Educational Foundation.
